The route is rich in history, as it once was the main artery into and out of the state. As Federal Route 99, north-south traffic once travel through small towns from just north of Portland, OR to a Canadian border crossing at Blaine, Washington State. Today, much of Federal Route 99's routing has disappeared from existence, due to the implementation of Interstate 5. However, some sections Interstate 5 which could not replaced are now known as Washington State Route 99. Next
