Near the city of Antioch (a far-eastern suburb of San Francisco), one can perceive the effect of rolling uphill (that's right!) just outside town. Empire Mine Road has a slight grade near its southern-terminus, seemingly descending away from there. Some argue the road doesn't descend from there, in fact citing the road actually travels uphill instead, suggesting optical illusion. Truth untold, you'll really think you're rolling uphill here, and here's how to test it--travel northbound on Empire Mine Road, and once at Antioch city-limits, place your car in neutral. Your car seems to roll uphill away from city-limits.
