Once motorists exit the Webster Tube, State Route 260 ends--and State Route 61 officially begins.  Due to the complex "legislative" nature of State Route 260--and to prevent motorist confusion--the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) sign-posts State Route 260 as an extension of State Route 61.  This is evidenced by the "End State Route 61" shield at State Route 260's eastern terminus (in Oakland, not pictured).
