Don't let your eyes deceive
you! While the above sign-overhead mentions `State Route 84 East`, this actual exit
is State Route 114. In historical contexts, Willow Road once served as State Route 84, but
has since been rerouted to the Bayfront Expressway. When this change was put into
effect, CalTrans (the California Department of Transportation) legislatively
signed "State Route 114" to Willow Road. Interestingly, Federal Route 101 North
still carries the original "State Route 84" signage--and seemingly for driver
convenience--places a State Route 84 West trailblazer at this junction.
