With the completion of the Tugun Bypass in June 2008, Route 1 traffic now
has a high-speed connector at the New South Wales - Queensland line. As a result
of this construction, motorists can now bypass the congested Gold Coast Highway
in Coolangatta. Though we're technically in New South Wales in this photograph, the
bypass gets administered by Queensland.
