Washington State Route 167, a major carrier of traffic in Pierce and King Counties, is broken into two distinct stretches.  The southernmost stretch consists of a multi-laned boulevard between Tacoma and Puyallup, while the northernmost stretch is a limited-access freeway between Sumner and Renton.  The intent of Washington State Route 167 is to alleviate traffic from Interstate 5 and connect the sprawling, southern suburbs of Seattle.
