Spanning from Round Rock, TX to Russellville, KY, Federal Route 79 carries a diagonal path.  In Texas, the route could be better described as "east-west".  Just outside Russellville, the KY-79 continues the path Federal Route 79 led into the state, carrying traffic towards Federal Route 62 and Caneyville.
