(Eastbound US Federal Route 211; Shenandoah County, Virginia)
--Photo taken by Carlos Rogers

Federal Route 211, which serves five counties in north-central Virginia, connects New Market with Warrenton.  About two-thirds into her eastbound routing, access is given to the town of Washington, Virginia.  As a result, the mileage-sign pictured above specifically includes "D.C." to remove ambiguity between the town and the American capital.  All signs leading to the town of Washington read "Washington, VA"--even though you're technically in Virginia already.
