In past generations, Oregon hosted Federal Route 99W and Federal Route 99E. Once Interstate 5 was commissioned, the two federal routes were slated for obsolence. Over the years, Federal Route 99W and Federal Route 99E became Oregon State Route 99W and Oregon State Route 99E, respectively. The westernmost route, Oregon State Route 99W, straddles the Long Tom and Willamette Rivers.
