Historic CA-58, a former constituent of CA-58, once afforded a smooth
transition between Kramer Junction and Interstate 15 north. From a big-picture
perspective, its purpose was to create a streamlined connection between the
Mojave Desert and Las Vegas, Nevada. These days, CA-58 connects into Barstow
as a freeway, forming its eastern-terminus w/ Interstate 15 and the nearby Interstate 40.
