Autoroute 48 is a high-speed carrier of traffic between Grenoble and Lyon.  While the route does not enter Lyon proper, it does connect with a route (A43) which does.  Interestingly, the southern terminus for A48 is with Grenoble city-streets, whereas its child-route, A480, connects motorists with A51, the south-region motorway.
