Julian is a well-preserved goldrush town in California.  Its entire municipality is considered a California Historical Landmark (no. 412).  The town began developing in the mid 19th century, and its original architecture has been maintained ever since.  To help California motorists reach the destination, State Routes 78 and 79 convene for a short distance.
