Anyone who has driven here from the 2010s and earlier may tell you the horrors of Kramer Junction. This location used to be a major traffic-jam hotspot in the middle of the Mojave Desert. For whatever reason, the crossroads with US Federal Route 395 had a slow stoplight and no auxiliary lanes to buffer traffic. That would cause several-minute backups in all directions. Now that there is a freeway interchange at Kramer Junction, this headache is a thing of the past!
