Highway 39, which traditionally
has been known as Beach Boulevard in Orange County, has recently annexed additional surface-streets. Instead of continuing into Los Angeles County and Hacienda
Heights, the route now "swallows" what used to be the eastern-terminus
of State Route 72. So in effect, State Route 39 now meets the Imperial Highway (State Route 90) twice
in La Habra. Here is Highway 39's path in this city-limits: north on
Beach Boulevard, then east on Whittier Boulevard, and finally south on Harbor
Boulevard--terminating at the Imperial Highway.
